Obtain Licenses and Permits http://www.nolo.com/article.cfm/objectID/EA3D3043-9A88-43F5-8DC869639F0F6E77/111/262/ART/
Many businesses, whether operating as for-profit or nonprofit corporations, partnerships, or sole proprietorships, are required to obtain state or local licenses and permits before commencing business. So, while you may not be subject to the kind of red tape that entangles profit-making enterprises, you should check with your state department of consumer affairs (or similar state licensing agency) for information concerning state licensing requirements for your type of organization. For instance, a local business license (sometimes called your "tax registration certificate") may be required for your activities, and if you sell anything to consumers, you'll need a sales tax permit.

Now it may not “matter” but To speak on law and order one should lead by example!
I agree wholeheartedly with the person that suggested petitions be joined. Apetition as a strategy shows solidarity, common cause and agreement it’s power is not in the number of different petitions, but as a sign of common support and agreement! “DUH” Outside of petitions there is a lot to be done. I will not argue with anyone on race, or for sport, Someone came to my brothers door and (two days in a row) called him outside and put five bullets in his chest! I am all too aware of what these families face. I also tire of citizen expecting the government to do something, Let me be blunt , On some level this is working for them, There is a saying that when you are sitting on the nail you have two choices, you either get up and do something about it. Or you ignore it and keep howling in pain!
So let’s get to the bottom of this,
1) We need to redefine our standards of morality and ethics and teach them to our children. Wrong is wrong, Grey eventually gets muddy! Mothers fathers brothers and sisters know who these people are but turn a blind eye because it works for them! They may not be directly involved but their rents, their meals are on the deaths of others. Since he laws are not working we need to stigmatize crime. No one should boast about “knowing a bandit”
2) That leads us to what allows someone to sell their soul, their peace of mind. We speak of an economic upswing but people are hungry and desperate to be able to afford a decent standard of living. We need to take a look at re-investing that wealth. That is universal. You can ignore the disadvantaged, you may move away, but someday they may meet you son or daughter then it will be your problem. I have attended the meetings in new York where Ken Valley spoke, still no plans to alleviate poverty and create opportunity for the young and economically disadvantaged, as for programs that hand out aid they may suit apolitical purpose they do not work (any where in the world) and at best should be TEMPORARY SOLUTIONS. As for training programs Trinidad has always had some of the best technical and vocational training, creating SME’s And Export opportunities, . Trinidadians abroad need to look into creating outlets so that there are new markets and honest businesses can be created.
3) Nothing less than a Citizen’s revolution will create change. Post After post blames the government. Yet After the bombings, bandits went from car to car while men watched women and children being robbed, no one ever see, they can call you and tell you who’s sleeping with whom when their husband is working at night, but They never see who kidnaps a child @ noon. When Bandits have to fear for their lives, either through a legal system or from a citizen beating, then this will stop. Taking Back our streets our lives need a community movement. We still go to work, fete and party even though we do not feel safe. STAY HOME. Force change Stop BUYING. If they will not listen to the people then the businesses need to be forced to take a stance! This is working for them on some level. It may mean some personal discomfort, but it could mean your children’s future!
4) As a child my parents knew what I had done before I get home. We need community watches. A simple models means every house has a representative, Apartments have a tenants group. All the buildings on a street come together and work out aplan. Then all street in a village work together. Almost every child and grand mother has acell phone and camera use it! They cannot kill everyone. There is strength in number and when we come down to it that is why nothing is being done, the country is paralyzed by fear. It is working for someone!
5) Those of us here and abroad need to consider what we can contribute , even if that means getting politically involved. I am very active in my community here creating programs that change lives daily, I am actually making moves to return to TT. I have nieces and nephews, this is not about me it is about them>.
When I started this thread I simply wanted to ascertain the credibility of The group. The number of scams I have come across, yes even in the TT non Profit community is appalling.
From a Government standpoint I almost wish there were a”Burroughs” around short of that, I have absolutely no fate in the integrity of the system. That HAS TO CHANGE! But the guards were and have always s operated above, beyond, outside and under the law! I will have to put that off till another break in the schedule presents itself!
In life in love it is not till we deal with truth can change transpire !
